His work focuses on the verification of international agreements on AI. In his research, he investigates retrofittable technological solutions for AI hardware governance and methods for detecting potentially hidden compute infrastructure. He is also interested in how new communities — from hardware engineering to arms control — can be brought into the emerging verification field.
Beyond his research at FLI, Yannick worked as a Research Manager at the ERA Fellowship in Cambridge and is advising ERA on issues related to hardware and AI verification. He holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Tübingen.
