George Yin

Research Affiliate

George is a Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Director of the World and China Program at the Center for China Studies, National Taiwan University (NTUCCS). He holds a doctorate in Government from Harvard University and a master’s in Political Science and Political Economy from the London School of Economics. His research expertise covers international security, diplomacy, U.S.-China relations, strategy, and Indo-Pacific international relations. At NTUCCS, he leads a project focused on U.S.-China technology rivalry and Taiwan.

With nearly 40 publications in both English and Chinese, his policy analysis has featured in Foreign Affairs, The National Interest, War on the Rocks, The Diplomat, and Brookings’ Taiwan-U.S. Quarterly Analysis series, among others. His commentary has also appeared in media outlets across Europe, the U.S., and Asia, including the BBC, Reuters, The Guardian, NPR, ABC (Australia), and Le Figaro.

In addition to his NTUCCS role, George serves as a Senior Advisor to Taiwan’s Straits Exchange Foundation (the semi-official organization managing Taiwan-China affairs) and as an Associate-in-Research at Harvard University’s Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies. He was the executive director for the Caucus on Strategic and Diplomacy Consensus at Taiwan’s parliament until Spring 2024. Prior to returning to Taiwan in 2021 to fulfill his three-year national service as a researcher at NTU, he held positions at Swarthmore College, Dartmouth College, and the Atlantic Council.‍
