As a Research Fellow in Technical AI Governance at ERA, Aytunç developed a threat model for advanced AI chips and examined verification gaps across the chip design and manufacturing process. His research explored pathways toward scalable verification of advanced AI chip manufacturing, aiming to support future AI governance frameworks.
He currently works at ASML, where he collaborates with major chip manufacturers and internal cross-functional teams across the United States and Asia on advanced semiconductor manufacturing control solutions used in high-volume production. His work spans customer engagements, technical feasibility studies, and the development of new solution concepts, giving him direct exposure to the operational realities, strategic dependencies, and technical bottlenecks of the semiconductor ecosystem. Previously, he worked at NATO Headquarters in Brussels across technical, policy, and strategy roles, contributing to the alliance’s work on emerging and disruptive technologies and engaging regularly with senior political and military leaders.
He holds an MSc in Strategy from the University of Amsterdam, where he graduated as valedictorian, and a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bilkent University.
