His primary interests lie in bridging technical research with concrete policy recommendations to ensure AI serves as a net benefit to society. He is particularly focused on the socio-economic impacts of AI, AI sovereignty, and the relationship between AI and inequality. His work has previously been published in NYU’s Just Security magazine.
Prior to Oxford, Lucas was an AI researcher at the Sentient Foundation, where he focused on democratizing AI search capabilities. He also worked as a client-facing AI engineer at C3.AI and as a machine learning intern at Twitter (prior to its acquisition). Alongside these roles, Lucas has facilitated the AI safety fundamentals courses for Blue Dot Impact and conducted research within the Digital Economic Security Lab at Oxford.
Lucas holds a bachelor’s in Computer Science from Princeton University, where he was awarded a departmental prize for the best cognitive science thesis. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, acting, climbing, skiing, and directing theatre. He is fluent in Modern Greek, and has working proficiency in Spanish and French.
